Fuel prices fell slightly last week, with diesel dropping more sharply.
Fuel prices in France fell slightly last week, according to the latest figures published on Monday by the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion.
As a result, the average selling price for a liter of 95 E10 unleaded was 1,929 euros, down 0.9 euro cents on the previous week, a largely stable price. The price of a liter of SP95-E10 then passed the 1.93 euro mark.
Diesel saw a more significant drop, to -2.4 cents per liter. As a result, the average selling price of a liter of diesel last week was 1,828 euros.
If gasoline prices are currently under more pressure than diesel prices, it's both geopolitical and seasonal. As American motorists travel more in summer, this mechanically increases the demand for gasoline across the Atlantic, thereby raising prices.
On the other hand, the rise in diesel prices seems to be fading for the time being, as it is mainly due to concerns about embargoes and supply disruptions.
However, the question of the Russian oil embargo cannot be ruled out, as European heads of state held an extraordinary summit on Monday to discuss new sanctions, including this one. Crude oil prices have begun to rise again in recent days, with a barrel reaching $120 on Monday, driven in particular by the growing end of confinements in China.
