The shop number 1 for car parts without a license
No more point deductions for minor excesses? Le Square Beauvoir is considering this. This possibility has been strongly criticized by Prévention Routière and the Ligue Contre la Violence Routière.
The Ministry of the Interior is considering the possibility of no longer deducting points from the driving licenses of drivers convicted of "minor speeding offences", Place Beauvoir told AFP on Wednesday.
The Ministry said that driving licenses and registration cards "will also be fully digitized", and hoped to achieve this within "a year and a half, two years".
The Ministry also stressed that the operation must be able to ensure that the person penalized is actually the offending driver and not a third party, to avoid the driver making false statements to avoid demerit points.
"It's by combating minor speeding offences that the mortality rate will fall", she tells AFP.
For Anne Lavaud, General Delegate of the French Road Safety Association, creating "resilience" at the threshold could be seen as "a call to drive faster at a time when road safety figures are on the rise again".
On the contrary, according to Pierre Chasseray, General Delegate of the French motoring association 40 millions d'automobilistes, the idea is "a step in the right direction".
Chantal Perichon, President of the Coalition contre les violences routières (Coalition against road violence), believes that one would have to be "hallucinatory rude and ignorant to make this proposal".
Indeed, if this law passes, it will remain an advantage for us and our VSP! By driving a little faster than the limit thanks to the speed controller we won't be penalized all the time, as long as it's a SMALL speeding ticket of course.
