The shop number 1 for car parts without a license
The abolition of the physical insurance sticker was announced this Tuesday, September 20, 2022.
It's normally a staple on every windscreen. However, the green vignette may be living out its final months. In fact, the abolition of this little green piece of paper is currently being considered by the Ministries of the Economy and the Interior.
Easier procedures
The French government is working with Gérald Darmanin, Minister of the Interior, to remove this little green sticker from the back of the windscreen, which shows that you are properly insured.
For conventional vehicles, cars without a license or even 2-wheelers, this procedure would be valid for all these means of travel.
It's a shock of simplification for us, compatriots, as well as a reduced cost. An announcement should be made to confirm the total physical disappearance of this green insurance sticker from 2023.
If successful, this repeal would not mean the end of compulsory car insurance - quite the contrary.

Access to files by law enforcement agencies
The document was drawn up in 2016 and is supplied directly by the insurance company. The document specifies the vehicle's registration number, the insurer's name, the insurance contract number and its validity. In theory, this makes it possible to obtain all the insurance cover associated with each registered vehicle in real time.
Insurers must provide this information within 72 hours of ordering or cancelling motor liability cover.
Since 2019, law enforcement agencies have been able to access this document to check that the vehicle is properly insured. The FVA is 99% reliable, far superior to the green card and vignette systems. For example, drivers who cancel their contracts during the year can keep the vignette on the windscreen for several months, as the documents are updated every day.
Removing green stickers can also have an ecological impact. According to Argus de l'Assurance, 50 million insurance certificates are printed every year.
