The shop number 1 for car parts without a license
As its name suggests, driving a small car or light quadricycle does not require a Permis B driving license. Does this mean that you don't need to have any driving authorizations?
Access to licence-free cars may seem straightforward, but in recent years the government has introduced a licensing system to regulate driving. People born before December 31, 1987, or holding a motorcycle or car license, do not need a license to drive a car without a permit. For those born after December 31, 1987, however, an AM license is required. Why is this?
First of all, itshould be remembered that the minimum age required to drive a small car is 14, the aim being to train future road users through a total training course of 7 hours, comprising 2 hours of theoretical training (off-road), 4 hours of practical driving and 1 hour to raise awareness of the risks associated with road hazards. This training, known as the Permis AM, replaces the former BSR (Brevet de Sécurité Routière - road safety certificate), and authorizes the driving of light quadricycles strictly under 50cm3 and with a maximum power of 4kw.
In short, anyone born before December 31, 1987 can drive a small car or a light quadricycle without authorization. All others must take a test similar to the simplified Permis B, accessible from the age of 14.
