What is the impact of the Euro 4 standard on Non-Permission Cars?
The anti-pollution standards for Sports Cars are evolving rapidly. Although they are far from being at the same level as for cars, they are becoming increasingly restrictive. Today, cars must meet the Euro 6 standard, while mopeds and scooters will have to wait until January 1, 2018 to be forced to meet the Euro 4 standard.
With this standard, manufacturers will have to find a solution to limit pollutant emissions from their machines, as well as the fumes given off by 2-stroke engines. There are several possible solutions. Some are considering switching to 4-stroke engines, as is the case for motorcycles and other cars, while others are thinking of installing direct injection, a catalytic converter or, why not, a sensor.
The transition to the Euro 4 standard is likely to result in some price increases on the part of manufacturers.
With this in mind Aixam and Kubota introduced an ambitious new Euro 4-compliant engine in June 2017.
