Used vehicles: after a sharp rise, now there's a drop!

Thanks to data reported by Autobiz, the exceptional decline in used vehicle stocks came to a halt in January 2022. Despite this, the average rates affected are still well above the scores calculated by European experts.

In January 2022, the stock of used vehicles for professionals less than 7 years old stabilized. On February 1, there were 505,897 cars waiting to be withdrawn from the parking lot, up +0.7 in one month, the first rebound since October 2021.

At the rate at which the pros are selling, with 156,761 listings exceeding the analysis range in January, the balance is moving back up in terms of liquidity. Inventories are now at 3.2 working months, compared with 2.7 to 2.8 working months over the past 4 months.

A decline that is making itself felt

However, the price remains enormous. According to Autobiz, the repositioned cars on the road are priced 215 euros above the expert's rating. As a reminder, inflation peaked in November 2021, when the price differential with the rating was estimated at 350 euros.
