The exhaust manifold is a robust cast iron or steel component bolted directly to the cylinder head. On the Greaves E5+ twin-cylinder diesel engine fitted to Ligier JS50 and Myli models, its role is to collect the exhaust gases leaving both cylinders at very high temperatures and channel them into the exhaust system (including the catalytic converter and muffler).
