The electric starter motor is a high-power auxiliary motor designed to crank the main diesel engine and enable it to start. On the Greaves E5+ twin-cylinder diesel engine, used in specific versions of the Ligier JS50 and Ligier Myli, the starter motor must deliver high cranking torque to overcome the strong compression typical of diesel engines, even in very cold weather.
